Giving Thanks for Our Freedom During
Thanksgiving
The Community Relations Task Force
with the Greater Louisville Association of Realtors and the Heather
French Foundation for Veterans, Inc. have teamed up to thank our
American veterans for their service to our country! We are proud to
announce the start of an appreciation program for our Veterans. This
year our project is an art contest with area elementary schools to
produce greeting cards of thanks for the Veterans and collecting
small personal items to be hand delivered once a month to the
Louisville VA Medical Center.
The theme of the cards is "What
Freedom Means To Me". We need a drawing on the outside of the card
and a note about Freedom written on the inside of the card. The
card/paper size should be a folded 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper.
The deadline for entries is
November 29, 2007 giving children grades K-5 a chance to create
their artwork over Thanksgiving Break!. Twelve winners will be
chosen and 100 cards will be hand delivered once a month for the
next 12 months, (13 months counting this December through December
2008) with an assortment of personal items for the Veterans.
After we gather all the winners,
Heather French Henry will gather a panel for judging. The winners
will receive a $5.00 gift certificate from Borders & Borders Book
Store , a Ribbon, and 10 cards printed with their own winning
designs. The Heather French Foundation for Veterans, Inc, will also
provide a $50.00 savings bond to each winner.
The cards will also be sent in
large batches to overseas men and women throughout the year. we do
not want to waste any of the cards. Members of our committee will be
collecting the artwork from the schools or individual artwork can be
mailed to 4307 Lincoln Road, Louisville, Ky 40220.
The Community Relations Task Force
consists of real estate agents, board affiliates, business men and
women and is active in our community in a number of ways. The task
force helps as many people as we can by donating monies and our time
to organizations such as Camp Quality of KY, Habitat for Humanity,
Kentucky Harvest, YMCA, Louisville Fire Fighters Association Burn
Unit, Family and Children’s First, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and
the Veterans Hospital.
The Heather French Foundation for
Veterans, Inc.. is a national foundation dedicated to helping
American veterans. From Operation Veterans Health to teaching
children about patriotism through childrens books the foundation is
dedicated to showing appreciation to veterans nationwide. For more
